Yoga, Meditation, Eastern Philosophy and Chakras Part 1

Science is amazing, but there are still things that happen all around us that science can’t yet explain.  Infact a lot of what science is know confirming are things that have been known for thousands of years but eastern societies.  For example everything thing is just energy is what e=mc squared means.  New research in posture reflecting on our personality is what yogis and chakra enthusiasts have been preaching for millennia.  Somethings in this episode may be a little out there for many of you, but I recommend listening with an open mind.

Notes:

  • Anything is possible through yoga and meditation
  • Elise straight up healed her cancer through yoga, and yes you might think that is a little out there; but you can’t argue with the results.
  • She talks about how finding out that she got cancer lead her to realize that she not only wanted to, but needed to radically change her life.
  • The goal of yoga is to create balance. As Elise says between the sun and moon parts of you and your body.
  • Sun being the sympathetic and moon being parasympathetic. Think of it as the balance between left and right brain, conscious and subconscious.  Balance between the wallstreet guy who is always hustling and the hippie that has dropped out and just hugs trees.  That is the goal to create a balance between the two opposites.

PR and Becoming A Author on Top Websites

Knowing how to get publicity is a great skill to have, and if you can become a reputable author on top websites that task is just a little bit easier.  Today I talk with a man who is in my opinion an expert at this topic.  Kimanzi has an amazing story, he went from knowing almost nothing about the internet to being published on some of the top journalist sites on the internet; and in this episode he shares his secrets.

  • Another episode that is just packed full of good actionable content, in fact when I decide to start writing books this is one of the episodes I will for sure relisten to.
  • Content bloggings is huge, if you can deliver good content people will listen to what you have to say.
  • Writing for sites like the hufington post etc. isn’t that hard. Start with smaller sites, refine your craft and then contact editors from the site and pitch them.
  • One key is to find articles similar to one you want to write and tell them this article about xyz was really good I want to write about this similar topic.
  • Also look for articles that have been good for them and write about that. They make money per page view, so if you can write about a topic that has been proven to go viral you have a better shot of being approved.
  • When launching a book check out bookbub.

Passive Income the Smart Way With Pat Flynn

Pat Flynn is one of the kings of passive income and in this I ask him some questions about obtaining passive income the smart way.  My goal with this episode is to ask him about some actionable tips for building wealth and passive income; I also tried to ask questions I have not heard him answer on his own or other podcasts.

Notes:

  • Pat follows the miracle morning routine for the most part.
  • He tries to focus on one thing at a time, and recommends everyone reads the book the one thing by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan.
  • Pat recommends when looking for a business focus on your 1000 true fans. If you have just 1,000 people each willing to pay give you $100 a year for material you produce, you can have a six figure business.  That is all there is to it!
  • When trying to get in contact with people that are influencers the most important thing is just trying, because in the end what is the worst thing that can happen? They say no?  Big deal!

Get a Mentor and Network Like A Pro

Success comes from a few things, but one thing every successful person seems to have in common is a great mentor.  For a hustler it can be hard to find the time to get a mentor, or to figure out how to actually attract a mentor to you.  In this episode Geoff Woods joins me and we go over how to get a mentor and network like a pro to jump start your success.

  • There were a ton of nuggets of wisdom in this show, below are some of my favorites
  • When you are networking or at any kind of party really; if you had $100 bills to hand out to everyone at the party would you be nervous going up to people and talking with them? Of course not.  That is the attitude you need to have, because meeting you could easily be worth $100
  • You need to find out what is exciting to you and pursue that. Also use that to find out what’s exciting to people that you are networking with.  Not just what do they do, but what excited them.
  • You need to understand that successful people want to share their knowledge with people in the starting stages. In fact it is enjoyable for them!

Notes:

  • So you want to start a business? Is your idea any good?  One quick way to find out is to ask people.
  • Networking is crucial to the success of your business.
  • See if you can find someone to intro you to people, it helps you sell better. It allows you to have someone build you up, because if you do it yourself it doesn’t mean as much.
  • Get your own personal board of directors, find people you trust and respect and bounce ideas off them, get them to give you inputs into your life and choices.
  • Selling is crucial to the success of a business! And most businesses don’t really push this part of their business.  Call potential customers, leave messages if necessary and keep calling until you get the sale.

Notes:

  • When asking for a raise, don’t ask for a raise, ask how can I make this raise happen, ask what would it take for you to feel silly not having me on?
  • I think this advice works with all kinds of things, for instance I want to be a guest on some podcasts and I think what I will start doing is asking What do I need to do for you to want me to come on your podcast?
  • Do a strength finder test, its only $10, and it will help you find out what you should do for your side business.
  • Once you find out what your strengths are figure out an idea and find a target demo and see how you can solve a problem for them, ask them what challenges and problems they are facing right now.
  • Then ask them why it is a problem, and then ask them what they have done to try and solve the problem.
  • At the end of the day the key is to figure out you can help a ton of people in a significant way, people will for sure pay for that.

Productivity, Automation and GTD

Getting more done is really one of the keys to life.  Whether you use technology or your own brain to get more things done, everyone can agree productivity tips are always welcome.  My guest today is Zach from the productivity show.

Notes:

  • Can you automate it, delegate it or batch it? That is the question you should be asking yourself all the time.
  • With automation there is a ton of tools, and truthfully the person who can use the most technology to automate his business or life wins. Think about it, with the computer how much more effective are we as a species well this is constantly happening new things coming out and the first person to get on them wins.
  • Zapier is something I am very interested in and I will start to see how I can use it in my business and life.
  • The other thing Zach talked about was doing a review every Sunday, which is something I do but I want to start formalizing more.  Every Sunday he recommends looking at your tasks for the week and figuring out which ones are priorities.

Hacking Learning and Doing More In Life

Learning is kind of what makes humans so amazing, so if you can do it better won’t that just make you more amazing?  My guest today Thomas Frank and I talk about ways to hack the learning process.

Download Options:

Mentioned In the Episode:

Notes:

  • This episode covers some of my favorite ways to hack learning including a new one I just learned about, which is called interleaving, this is the idea that it is actually beneficial to work on other things.
  • Interleaving is different from what most people do, most people do block learning sessions. Interleaving works like this If you want to learn skills A, B and C then a block practice session would look something like this AAABBBCCC and an interleaved practice session would look like this ABCABCABC (in series) or ACBABCBAC (randomized). The only constraint is that you can’t work on the same type of problem back to back.
  • Spaced repetition in another key way to enhance learning.
  • Later in the episode he talks about his website and the success he has seen with it, one thing he did that lead to a ton of more success was to start posting on a regular schedule, he said his growth hockey sticked when he did that.

Psychedelics, Research and Introspection

Psychedelics are extremely interesting, they provide a powerful way to gain some introspection into your own life and they have potentially amazing medical usage.   My Guest today Ben who is a Research Associate with MAPS comes on to talk about his experience and tips about psychedelics.

Notes:

  • At the end of the day psychedelics are just an amplifier of what is already going on in your mind, it just makes that thing stronger.
  • A big part of psychedelics is integration, after you have had a big experience the key to not becoming one of those burn out type people is to understand the experience and bring it back into your reality.
  • MAPS is doing some great research helping people with PTSD
  • The truth is though you don’t need drugs to get introspection, it may be a short cut, but at the end of the day just asking yourself the right questions, like is this what I want to do will help you more than anything.

Get Out of Debt and Keeping a Well Kept Wallet

If you are in debt then this is the episode for you.  I get the question all the time I am in debt what should I do?  The answer is…PAY OFF that debt and in this episode my guest Deacon will show you how.

Download Options:

Mentioned In the Episode:

Notes:

  • Deacon and his wife paid off a ton of debt in a short period of time, and now he teaches other people how to do the same.
  • There is the Debt Snowball approach and the debt avalanche approach
  • The debt snowball approach is where you put in order your debt from smallest to highest in terms of dollar amount you owe, and you pay it off. The benefit of this strategy is you get some quick wins
  • The other way of doing it is called the debt avalanche, which is where you put your debt in order from highest interest to lowest interest and you pay off the highest interest first.  This saves you money but it isn’t as gratifying.
